Dear Pilots,

We're proud to announce the release of the Pilot Training Assistance Award. To earn this award, all you have to do is help out at Controller On-The-Job Training sessions by flying in or out (or even just circuits)! Upcoming OJT sessions are always stickied on the Exams and Training Sessions board.

Here are the full requirements:
  • Assist in 20 practical ATC exams/training sessions by flying TO/FROM the active airfield.
  • Flights must be at least 30 minutes of duration.
  • Flights must be flown online.
  • Double check your Flight Plan carefully before submitting it for a online flight. FP's with the wrong dep/arr airfields filed will not be accepted
  • Charts are MANDATORY and can be found here
  • In the event of disconnection you are to reconnect with the shortest delay - You must mention this in your report along with any changes in your callsign.
  • Remember to report the length and duration of your flight in UTC time.
  • Report the ATC positions you had contact with.
  • Each flight must be validated. Completed ATC assistance flight sessions must be reported after each flight using the appropriate form.

You may be interested to note that there is excellent freeware scenery available for both Edinburgh and Birmingham, the two training airfields. Edinburgh has been released in the UK2000 Free Series by Gary Summons, and our own Phil Reynolds has created some wonderful Birmingham scenery, which you can download from www.flightsim.com!

Happy flying - and thanks for helping out with controller training in the United Kingdom division!

Controllers: Don't forget, there is the similar ATC Training Assistance Award, for those controllers opening ATC positions to assist with training.

Thanks,

The requirements for this award have been reduced - Members now need to assist in only 20 practical exams/training sessions.
